2. Staged Death

A struggling artist by the name of Vincent has become frustrated with the wall he’s hit in his career and as a result stages his own death in hopes of his poetry, paintings, screenplays and other forms of art getting the attention they deserve. He is assisted only by his friend Arvin, who has agreed to split the earnings with Vincent so long as he thrusts Vincent’s work into the public eye where it belongs. However Vincent grows envious of Arvin’s new found notoriety and fame and in a fit of jealous rage gets extensive plastic surgery to look exactly like Arvin, kills Arvin, then assumes his identity seconds shy of what’s left of Arvin’s fading 15 minutes. Hollywood decides to make a movie about Vincent’s life and instead casts John Travolta as Vincent and Steve Buscemi as Arvin. Vincent, as Arvin is invited to the premiere but dies unexpectedly of a heart attack during the opening credits at the premiere in downtown Los Angeles.

When they do the autopsy they realize the body isn’t Vincent made to look like Arvin, but rather Arvin made to look like Vincent playing Arvin.
Arvin’s death by way of Vincent was in fact a staged death just as Vincent’s death was by way of Arvin.  Vincent lives with his dog in a suburb of Mesa Arizona, while Arvin made to look like Vincent playing Arvin is actually dead.
